“Thousands of years ago the first man discovered how to make fire. He was probably burnt at the stake he'd taught his brothers to light, but he left them a gift they had not conceived and he lifted darkness from the face of the Earth.”  ― Ayn RandThe Fountainhead

1979 ~ 1981: Genovese Drug Store, Guilford, CT (Associate, Asst Manager)
1981 ~ 1982: Fleischmann's Dept Store, Guilford CT (Sales Associate)
1982 ~ 1984: Macy's Dept Store, New Haven, CT (Sales Associate)
1984 ~ 1989: Industrial Roofer/Construction, Mechanic/Foreman various, New York, NJ, CT

1985 ~ 1991: Married and divorced my high school sweetheart. We are the parents of two wonderful young men, Jason (24) and Zak (22) and remain friends.

1990 ~ 1992: Connecticut School of Electronics, East Haven, CT ~ Having aspirations of being a guitar tech for a famous rock band since my teens, I attended, then graduated from The Connecticut School of Electronics. While attending school I participated in my final construction project, renovating of the historic old barns at 47Stone House Lane in my home town of Guilford, CT. That was pretty cool!

Today the barn on Stone House Lane is home to the Guilford Center for Children
Rick Perry Productions, NEATO! And The World Wide Web

1991 ~ 1996: Rick Perry Productions, Guilford, CT ~ At the urging of friends and family, I started Rick Perry Productions while attending the Connecticut School of Electronics. I created portfolios and media press kits for entertainers and advertisement for small businesses. Marketing and promoting as RPP I was responsible for the representation and booking of over 15 entertainers and performers. I continued RPP while employed at MicroPatent.

1992 ~ 1994: MicroPatent, East Haven, CT ~ A global leader in the production and distribution of patent and trademark information. After graduating from the Connecticut School of Electronics in 1992, I accepted a position as graphic designer and manager of MicroPatent's awards division. While at MicroPatent, before anyone had ever heard the word "webmaster", I was fortunate to participate in the design and maintenance of one of the first websites to sell a service and information over the new “Internet”. I had the fortunate pleasure to work closely with those people pioneering the then fledgling "Information Superhighway".

NEATO! During my time at MicroPatent I played an instrumental role in the design and marketing of the Original NEATO CD Labeling System. This included marketing, packaging, the development and technical support for labeling templates created in CorelDraw, advertising materials, instructional manuals and shipping. Today the NEATO has patents in “over 20 countries and has been used on tens of millions of CD's throughout the world”.

This little film was made long after I had left MicroPatent
(I have no idea who these people are, but it was fun to watch as what they are doing... I did EVERYTHING!)

Florida!
“Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision. Their goals differed, but they all had this in common: that the step was first, the road new, the vision unborrowed, and the response they received — hatred. The great creators — the thinkers, the artists, the scientists, the inventors — stood alone against the men of their time. Every great new thought was opposed. Every great new invention was denounced. The first motor was considered foolish. The airplane was considered impossible. The power loom was considered vicious. Anesthesia was considered sinful. But the men of unborrowed vision went ahead. They fought, they suffered and they paid. But they won.” - Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead

1996 ~ 1999 Rick Perry Productions, Palm Coast, FL ~ With music on my mind and a notebook of ideas in my hand, I relocated to Flagler County, Florida (then the fastest growing county in the United States) where I would begin to introduce people to the idea of internet marketing (then the fastest growing business sector in the United States).

1996 Flagler Internet Services: I created FIS for the purpose of promoting independent music but found myself creating the first websites promoting the rapidly growing Flagler County and its many small businesses, restaurants and social clubs. FIS was quickly sold to a local business owner.

Relying heavily on the Internet, I continued promoting music as Rick Perry Productions (RPP). At one point I was promoting and booking over 25 entertainers from Rock to Blues To Folk, Country and Jazz. I offered entertainment services along the entire East Coast, Alabama and Tennessee.

As a promoter, I was responsible for the production and promotion of numerous Spring Break, Bike Week & Biketoberfest and Race Week events and concerts, which included stages at The Rolex 24 Hour and Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, Main St, The World Famous Iron Horse Saloon and on Daytona Beach.

As a representative or agent, I had the opportunity to work with members of Megadeth, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Pat Travers, Rick Derringer, Foghat, Marshall Tucker Band, Allman Bros. Band, 38 Special and Matchbox 20, to name a few.

RPP continued promoting music while creating and maintaining a number of websites for businesses in the growing town of Palm Coast, FL

1997: Met, fell in love and married a young school teacher from Flagler Beach.

“It's so hard to stand on one's own record. You can fake virtue for an audience. You can't fake it in your own eyes. Your ego is your strictest judge. ” - Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead

FROM ON MY OWN TO ON WALL STREET

2001: Started consulting from home for a hot minute before Investor Relations Services got ahold of me.
2001 ~ 2005 Investor Relations Services (Creative Marketing) I entered the world of investor relations doing basically the same thing I did for bands, but for for startups looking to raise venture capital and take their companies public. I would interview the principal players of a corporation or business and then, after extensive due diligence of their business sector, find what I called “The Play” (that special thing that made them stand out above their competition), and put together a program that they could take on the road and present in front of potential investors. Here I really honed the craft of creative writing.

If you threw the cat on the ground it would land on it's feet...
man... you can bounce a cat”. ~ Investor Relations Client

Sept. 11, 2001: I had a lot of new friends that worked in Manhattan at the time of the 911.

    Final ... 2003 - Today

“Degrees of ability vary, but the basic principle remains the same: the degree of a man's independence, initiative and personal love for his work determines his talent as a worker and his worth as a man. Independence is the only gauge of human virtue and value. What a man is and makes of himself; not what he has or hasn't done for others. There is no substitute for personal dignity. There is no standard of personal dignity except independence.” ― Ayn RandThe Fountainhead

    =^..^= Bounce The Cat

2003 - Present ~ Bounce The Cat entertainment management, marketing and consulting. The name “Bounce The Cat” was born from the phrase “Dead Cat Bounce”, a term used to describe when a stock bounces back after a sharp decline.

2003 ~ GuitarDealer: Due to an overwhelming desire to collect vintage Harmony guitars and a need to play a new guitar everyday, I started brokering guitars through E-bay. That was fun for a little while.
2005 ~ With my wife enjoying her career as a school administrator, I had time to enjoy raising my three young boys. I had the opportunity to return to music as a consultant, coach a lot of little league baseball and take many camping trips with my family.

    WHAT'S NEXT?
"I find myself once again swimming with an entrepreneurial spirit, I guess I'm looking for that next “Company In Play”.  I can help you achieve your goals, of that I am certain, but please don't offer me a percentage of your dream... for that price, I have my own." - Rick Perry

2013: The Bounce The Cat brand has embraced social media and continues to promote the independent musician. Most popular among the Blues, Classic & Southern Rock and 80s Hard Rock/Metal genres, BTC's strongest following is in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Connecticut, California, Las Vegas and Parts of Canada.

Bounce The Cat represents a number of professional artists, international touring bands and entertainers.

I also consult with small business owners, entertainers, independent artists, authors, painters, photographers, etc... on discovering what makes THEM Marketable and how to increase that marketability. Learning effective Social Media marketing techniques my clients are growing larger more loyal fan bases, attracting more customers and increasing sales.

My network of indie professionals and I help musicians and other artists use their increased market value to leverage for endorsement deals, sponsorship opportunities, radio and internet song play and interviews, ultimately leading to better paying & higher profile gigs.

“I like to receive money for my work. But I can pass that up this time. I like to have people know my work is done by me. But I can pass that up. I like to have tenants made happy by my work. But that doesn't matter too much. The only thing that matters, my goal, my reward, my beginning, my end is the work itself. My work done my way. there's nothing in the world that you can offer me, except this. Offer me this and you can have anything I've got to give. My work done my way. A private, personal, selfish, egotistical motivation. That's the only way I function. That's all I am.”  ― Ayn RandThe Fountainhead
